Ocarina of Time Poem by *jamberry-song:iconjamberry-song:

I. Bolero of Fire

Glimmer glimmer, flitter flatter---
the sun upon a golden platter;
hark, the mountain torches flicker.
Here cometh molten stone
legions cloaked in flame alone;
they bring their ashes down
on vales below.

II. Minuet of the Woods

Dancing leaves,
blossoms too;
summer sun
falling through,
dapples sacred ruins
in the trees.

III. Serenade of Water

Whyfor that heart-ache,
here by the calm lake?
What more than sky and sea
to ease thee?

IV. Nocturne of Shadow

Something
creeping in the dark,
shadows
distant to your heart.
Memories half-hidden,
nightmares come unbid
and stark.

V. Prelude of Light

Morning
lightens the east!
Away now,
dark and night-beast.
Awake,
lark, sing.

VI. Requiem of Spirit

Lay now and rest your head,
sleep deep among the dead;
legend will keep your stead.

This piece is for =Cyantre's Video Game Poetry Contest [link]

I might have tried to be a little too clever here. This was written as an homage to one of my favorite games ever, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Each little section is written to one of the songs that Link learns from Sheik throughout the game. YES, they are exactly written to the rhythms and melodies (you could sing these words along to them if you really wanted to). I NEVER rhyme. But I rhymed here. That's because of the nature of the inspiration (music) and the fact that video games are meant to be accessible by almost everyone. I think rhyming makes it a little more universal, like, to traditional poetry. Dunno, maybe it's just me. XD At any rate, here you go.

Oh, and this bears mentioning too---one of my absolute favorite things about the Zelda games is the world in which they are set. I :heart: Hyrule. So these small pieces are more about the game world than the characters or what happens in the plot. That is, Bolero of Fire is about Death Mountain, as that's where Link learned that song; Minuet of the Forest is about the Deku Forest/Lost Woods, etc. etc.

The preview image is a very old fanart I made ages ago. The original is posted on my old, defunct art account, ~jamberry. I gave myself permission to use it here. ;)

Anyway. Hope you like it. :) Hope it suits the very inspiring game well.

Great choice of inspiration, and cleverly done. I think 2 is my favourite.

I've just been playing through the old NES Zelda games, bit of a nostalgia trip :) Awesome stuff.

I love it! Ocarina of Time is my all-time favorite Zelda game, and you put it in a new perspective for me!
I gotta say though, the Zoras are what's up. :P
