A closer view of this necklace: [link]
This is an old piece that I never properly photographed nor shared. So here it is; I bought the pendant in Ottawa, Canada, about seven years ago. None of the chains I had really suited it, so I didn't wear it for five years. When I got to college, I joined the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA), a group devoted to Medieval and Renaissance reenactment, crafts, garb, and lifestyles. They taught me how to do chainmail, so I built this chain myself. It took about two weeks of intensive frustration and finger callousing, but it was totally worth it. The design of the chain is from 12th century Europe, if I remember correctly. I believe it is a box weave. It is dense as hell and very heavy to wear, so I usually only wear it with my garb: [link] . |
